In July 1913, Turkish troops resumed hostilities against Bulgaria and advanced to Edirne and Lozengrad. On July 21, 1913, the city was conquered and remained in the Ottoman Empire.
The Bulgarian name of the town is Lozengrad (Лозенград) which means Vineyard Town. Today, the city attracts admirers of beautiful ancient monuments, the original cityscape and shopping.
