✈ The largest international airport in Romania is named after the Romanian pioneer Henri Coanda, but is better known for its former name Otopeni. Built in the early 30s of last century, until the middle of 60, it was used mainly for military purposes.
In 1965, a new commercial airport was built with the growth of the air trawl. The runway was modernized and expanded to 3500 m., making it the longest in Europe at the time. It is located 17 km (10 miles) north of downtown Bucharest.
